Where are those Blogs?

I have been doing some extensive search on BIM (or VB) blogs, and found out this:

- There is NOT ONE blog done by ArchiCAD users about BIM (besides mine).
- There are dozens, maybe hundreds of blogs on BIM done by Revit users.

This got me a bit upset.

My first reaction was, hey, these blogs must be in some way produced or sponsored by Autodesk. And sure enough, some of them (most?) seem to be.

But there are also blogs that wellcome different opinions, like RobiNZ's , so my former theory lacks proof.

Besides, why are there NO archiCAD blogs?

I can only think of one explanation:

1- The vast majority of ArchiCAD users are "oldies", for whom blogging is an alien concept, and
2- The vast majority of Revit users are "newbies" for whom blogging is second nature.

If this is true, boy oh boy are we in trouble...

Care to prove me wrong?

You pose an interesting question. I'd like to read some ArchiCAD blogs but, like you , couldn't find any.

Well, here is one http://www.onland.info/ - and a good one it is...

Brian:
ArchiCAD has a very strong and active community, in http://archicad-talk.graphisoft.com/index.php?sid=809e695b91aaa9dd072700418f1a0efb
It is a very stable community, with lot's of users that like to share their work.
But they just don´t blog.
Someone told me this is because Archicad users are older, with "real" jobs, and Reviters are younger people, university students, that have too much time in their hands.
Having visited many Revit blogs, I know that many are also from "real job" people.
So, I am still looking for the reason (or reasons).

Miguel... intersting post...
I touch on BIM with my Blog (revolving around Autodesk products), and try to keep up with others along the lines of BIM and the products I (and all of my Facility's consulting engineers/designers) use...

I do just want to say that I keep a list of over 150 discipline-related blogs, and only 22 of those are run by Autodesk, the rest of us simply do it for the passion (read: sympathy of frustration).

I'm not sure why one demographic might blog and the other might not, I'm certainly interested to read if anyone else had any theories on that.

:) thanks.

Thank you for those statistics.
150 are a LOT of blogs, although I presume most of them are AutoCAD related, not BIM per se.
Of course you have to take into account the size of Autodesk user group, to give you an idea what 150 blogs really mean.
And my guess is, most of those blogs (or many) are made by CAD managers, who are bound to exist in a great number in Autodesk using offices (big firms that need CAD managers).
Still, the total lack of BIM related Blogs (exception to http://www.onland.info/), or even tips and tricks blogs made by ArchiCAD users makes me wonder.
I will keep looking for a reason (possibly more than one).

Brrrzzzt! I noticed as much myself, so ventured to start ArchiCad East (http://archicad.ca/), more as a virtual hub for the local user group (just forming) - but alas, people worry that they are duplicating GS resources. What?! Sorry, but GS could stand to learn some things about SEO - no - not booleans! Search Engine Optimization!!! And tags! Notice how AC-Talk has become like a bayou of ramblings, for lack of such organizational devices! We could really use some better support and community resources! phpBB is not the end-all-be-all anymore!

So there!
