All those extras that designers receive from construction material companies (voyages, abatements, work publications and even money) could be jeopardized if decisions are more transparent.
- Nobody wants to assume responsibility.
- Nobody wants to share his work.
- Nobody wants to submit his work to criticism.
- Nobody really knows how to work in a team."

This doesn't only apply to the design team. The construction team - not just the general contractor, but the many trades involved - uses the "unknowns" to make their living. That is a fact. This movement is going to be a major shift, and there will be MUCH resistance. Old fashioned and egotistical design professionals are just the beginning. BIM appears to be most accepted by the general contractor community, especially the big ones; however I feel it is more likely to be a response to heading the "transparency" off at the pass.Anonymousnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-34258813.post-65441762422132296672007-01-16T13:39:00.000-08:002007-01-16T13:39:00.000-08:00Thanks for your blogging! It's a culture thing to actually change the way you work. In sweden (my turf) engineers draw their plan drawings looking upwards for example...how cool (irony...) is that when they try to interoperate with the rest of the pack that are looking downwards...! Keep up your blog!
Cheers,
Mats
AC rep in beautiful Sweden.Anonymousnoreply@blogger.com
